Columbus Helper is the answer to an Open Design Challenge centered around helping people find and access community services. Created by Smart Columbus Open Data Enthusiasts (SCODE), Columbus Helper is an easily accessible map visualization of open data from the Smart Columbus Operating System (SCOS). This interactive map displays the locations of various active community resource providers where users can navigate through specific locations, resource providers, and resource offerings.
Users can explore food, housing, and transportation resources available from around our region in an intuitive and interactive map. Columbus Helper provides value to community leaders and citizens alike in the form of mapping specific locations to increase access to food banks and outlets, housing assistance and counseling, and transportation passes and options to name a few. Users answer simple questions, delivered on a friendly interface, to get the resources they need based on their current location. Columbus Helper presents the location of these resources along with hours of operation and address to assist in trip planning.
